HUPO Industrial Advisory Board (IAB)
Overview
HUPO created the Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) in 2006 to facilitate more substantial ways for industry partners to support the proteomics community and to have a high visibility as HUPO affiliates. An additional, and equally important, factor was the ongoing changes in the scientific proteomics environment that made it necessary for HUPO to find productive ways for industry to support HUPO’s activities in developing the leading technologies and standards required for the field of proteomics to go forward.
The HUPO Industrial Advisory Board is a vehicle for proteomics industry partners to support HUPO in a very visible way. This mutually beneficial partnership supports the organizational goals of both HUPO and its industry allies.
IAB Mission
The HUPO Industrial Advisory Board will provide the HUPO Executive Committee advice on opportunities for HUPO. Additionally, the IAB will play an instrumental role in identifying industry trends and positioning HUPO to meet the future challenges of its partners and organization.
Member Selection Criteria
- Proteomics product/service distributors/manufacturers
- Companies with a proteomics disciplinary focus.
Service Policies
A HUPO Executive Committee member will co-chair the Industrial Advisory
Board representing HUPO. A second Co-chair will be elected by HUPO IAB
members to represent the Industry.
There will be one representative per participating organization.
The term of service will be two years.
IAB Commitment
The IAB meets at least semi-annually, first in conjunction with HUPO’s Annual World Congress and at least one other meeting
possibly coinciding with a HUPO Executive Committee meeting.
IAB recommendations will be reported to HUPO HQ and Secretary General in order to provide timely guidance to HUPO Executive Committee. IAB members will be expected to cover travel and lodging expenses.
Operational costs of the IAB will be covered by a yearly fee to be paid by
its members.
It is expected that IAB members will attend all meetings. If a board member is unable to do so, he or she should notify HUPO staff in advance. Any board member who misses two consecutive meetings without mitigating circumstances
shall be considered to have resigned from the Industrial Advisory Board.
