A postdoctoral position is available in the Functional Cellular Networks Section, Laboratory of Immune System Biology, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, NIH, Bethesda, MD. The successful candidate would join an interactive team of researchers in a collaborative scientific environment focused on systems immunology approaches to studying the Toll-like receptor signaling networks and other innate immune signaling pathways.
Requirements: Applicants must have (or expect soon) a Ph.D. from an accredited institution with less than five years of postdoctoral experience, an ability for independent research, an interest in interdisciplinary approaches and collaborations, and publications in peer reviewed journals. The projects will focus on innate immunity signaling networks, for example, the immune system protein abundance changes, functional interactions and post-translational modifications, leading to mathematical modeling of the cell signaling driving the innate immune response, as well as specific protein roles in the innate immune signaling.
Demonstrated background in protein biochemistry is essential, knowledge of innate immunity, microbiology, virology and/or mass spectrometry-based proteomics strongly recommended, experience with analysis of post-translational modifications (phosphorylation, glycosylation, ubiquitination) and/or the methods of studying protein-protein interactions (such as microscopy-based methods), and basic techniques of immunology a plus. Salary is commensurate with research experience and accomplishments.
