New York University School of Medicine: Postdoctoral Position in Biological Mass Spectrometry for Neuroscience

17 Oct 2018 1:29 PM | Anonymous member (Administrator)

There is an opening for a postdoctoral position (or Assistant Research Scientist) to perform biological mass spectrometry in collaboration with a number of outstanding investigators at the New York University School of Medicine and neighboring universities. The position will afford the opportunity to use quantitative mass spectrometry tools such as SILAC and TMT to study cell signaling in neurons. Other possible projects include the characterization of posttranslational modifications in neuronal proteins, characterization of biomarkers for neurodegenerative disease and cancer, and the identification and characterization of small molecules that are important for cell signaling and metabolism. The lab is equipped with a nanoflow LC-Thermo Electron LTQ-Orbitrap system, three ThermoFisher Q-Exactive mass spectrometers (including HF and HF-X), and a Bruker Autoflex MALDI-TOF. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry or Cell Biology with some experience in protein and/or small molecule purification/characterization and/or biological mass spectrometry and experience and/or interest in molecular neuroscience. Especially well qualified Masters level scientists will also be considered for the position.
