Shape the future of proteomics

HUPO Committees

HUPO’s committees are the driving force behind many of the organization’s activities and initiatives. They bring together dedicated members from around the world to collaborate, plan, and guide the direction of HUPO’s programs and priorities.

Each committee focuses on a specific area of HUPO’s mission — from scientific initiatives and communications to education, outreach, and governance. Committees are composed of HUPO members and Council representatives, working together to ensure the organization remains dynamic, inclusive, and forward-looking.

Getting involved in a HUPO committee is a fantastic way to contribute your expertise, shape the proteomics community, and connect with global leaders in the field.

The HUPO Awards Committee celebrates excellence across the global proteomics community. Each year, the committee solicits, reviews, and selects nominations from HUPO members to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field.

In addition to overseeing the awards process, the committee also supports fundraising efforts to ensure continued recognition and celebration of scientific achievement worldwide.

Early Career Researcher (ECR) Committee

The HUPO Early Career Researcher (ECR) Committee empowers the next generation of proteomics leaders. Launched at HUPO 2015 in Vancouver, the initiative fosters mentoring, collaboration, and professional growth for emerging scientists across the global HUPO community.

Through activities such as Mentoring Day and the ECR Manuscript Competition, the committee connects young researchers with established experts, supporting innovation and excellence in proteomics. For more information contact: ecr@hupo.org.

Committee Leadership:

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee ensures HUPO’s financial integrity and transparency. Meeting quarterly, the committee reviews expenditure requests, evaluates proposals, and provides recommendations to the Executive Committee on funding allocations and project support. This structured review process maintains accountability, fairness, and balanced decision-making across all HUPO financial activities.

Committee Leadership:

Marketing & Outreach (MOC) Committee

The Marketing and Outreach Committee (MOC) promotes proteomics and the HUPO brand to a global audience through creative communication, branding, and engagement. The committee supports outreach activities such as workshops, presentations, and collaborations organized across HUPO, helping to raise visibility and grow community involvement.

Key focus areas include Website, Branding, Social Media, Promotional Outreach, and Humans of HUPO. The MOC also works with partners to expand awareness, sponsorship, and membership within the worldwide proteomics community.

Committee Leadership:

Nominations & Elections (NEC) Committee

The Nominations Committee oversees the selection process for HUPO Council and leadership positions. The committee reviews nominations, confirms candidate eligibility, and prepares the final slate of candidates for Executive Committee approval ahead of elections.

By ensuring transparency, fairness, and broad representation, the Nominations Committee plays a key role in maintaining HUPO’s strong and inclusive governance.

Committee Leadership:

Congress Organizing Committee (COC)

The Congress Organizing Committee (COC) oversees the planning and delivery of the annual HUPO World Congress. Working closely with the HUPO Executive Committee and local hosts, the COC ensures a seamless, engaging, and impactful event experience for all attendees.
