HUPO Initiatives
An important role of HUPO is to foster international initiatives that advance our understanding of human biology and disease. In 2010, the Human Proteome Project (HPP) was launched to unite and build upon many of HUPO’s existing initiatives, creating a coordinated global effort in proteomics research.
Several initiatives pre-date the HPP and continue to contribute through collaborative and independent projects, supporting HUPO’s mission to drive innovation and discovery across the proteomics community.
The individual projects under these initiatives are designed to address specific scientific questions, develop new technologies, and generate shared resources that accelerate progress in proteomics and its application to human health and disease.
HPP
The Human Proteome Project (HPP) aims to revolutionize our understanding of the human proteome via a coordinated effort by many research laboratories around the world.
B/D HPP
The Biology/Disease-driven Human Proteome Project explores how proteins function in specific biological systems and diseases, advancing discovery for diagnostics, treatments, and health innovations.
C-HPP
The Chromosome-centric Human Proteome Project maps all proteins encoded by the human genome, linking molecular and genetic insights to biological and clinical understanding across 24 chromosomes.
Technology
HUPO’s Technology Initiatives drive innovation in tools and methods—spanning antibodies, mass spectrometry, AI models, and proteomic standards in order to accelerate global research and data sharing.
