Mission & Goals
The Human Brain Proteome Project (HBPP) is a network that aims to enable multidisciplinary interactions to create possibilities for collaborative efforts among a broad range of neuroproteomics associated researchers. HBPP was launched in 2003 and redesigned in 2015 and promotes the connection of neuroproteomics scientists and actively encourages the inclusion of young investigators. Our well-established annual HBPP workshop has been travelling around the world to capture, congregate, and connect the international neuroproteomics community.
The scientific focus is broadly defined as the development and implementation of neuroproteomics methods for the deciphering of the brain proteome in health and disease. Neuroproteomics methods are applied to brain tissue, cultured cells and organoids, cerebrospinal fluid, and peripheral blood. Exploring brain biology includes the investigation of the proteome associations with for example neurodegenerative disorders, psychiatric disorders, movement disorders, CNS cancers and traumatic brain injury.
