2024 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ELECTION - Secretary General
One candidate is appointed by the President Elect and ratified by Council.

Ruth Huttenhain

Assistant Professor, Stanford University, USA

I have been an active member of HUPO for several years, serving in various leadership roles: Over the past four years, I have co-chaired the HUPO Early Career Researcher (ECR) Committee. During this time, the ECR executive committee has expanded to include over 30 members from 16 countries across six continents, fostering an inclusive and dynamic environment. As part of the HUPO ECR Committee, we work to increase the scientific visibility of early career researchers by organizing competitions at the annual HUPO Congress that highlight their work.

Additionally, we offer career development opportunities, such as mentoring sessions at the annual Congress and regular online panel discussions, to enhance the competitiveness of ECRs in the job market. We are also committed to improving equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in proteomics by incorporating EDI principles into all ECR activities.

Beyond the ECR Committee, I have contributed to the HUPO Congress organizing committee in 2021 and 2022, and I am serving as Co-Chair of this year's Congress in Dresden. Over the past year, I have also served as the ECR representative on the HUPO Executive Committee, and I would be excited to continue working with the EC in the role of Secretary General.
