2024 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ELECTION - Slate of Candidates - Treasurer
There are two candidates listed alphabetically by last name.  One candidate is required to be selected.

Lan Huang

Professor, University of California, Irvine, USA

Dr. Lan Huang is Professor of Physiology & Biophysics in the School of Medicine, University of California, Irvine. Her research focuses on developing novel, integrated mass spectrometry-based proteomic strategies to characterize macromolecular machines and understand their functions. The Huang lab has developed a number of novel methodologies to study protein-protein interactions in living cells. She has pioneered the development of sulfoxide-containing MS-cleavable cross-linkers, enabling the elucidation of interaction networks and structural topologies of native proteomes in vitro and in vivo. She has successfully translated her research findings into practical applications, receiving several patents and commercializing reagents that have made a substantial impact in the scientific community.

Beyond her research, Dr. Huang has been intensely involved in serving the mass spectrometry and proteomics communities. She has served on various committees for multiple organizations including ASMS, ASBMB, HUPO, US HUPO, and CASMS, and as the President of CASMS (2021-2023). Dr. Huang also serves as an Associate Editor for both Molecular & Cellular Proteomics and FASEB BioAdvances, and a Council Member for HUPO.  Dr. Huang's academic and professional experiences have allowed her to develop the financial and leadership skills that would serve her well in managing HUPO's financial affairs. She has managed multi-million-dollar research grants, collaborated on budgeting with cross-disciplinary teams, and overseen financial operations in various projects throughout her career. Her expertise in these areas ensures that she is well-prepared to maintain HUPO's financial integrity, implement transparent accounting practices, and work closely with the Executive Committee to ensure responsible financial planning and decision-making. Dr. Huang would be honored to serve as Treasurer, contributing to HUPO's continued success in advancing proteomics research and education worldwide.
